Job Overview:

To play a crucial hands-on role in reaching the JG operational target of ‘on time in full every time’, ensuring that all inventory is processed accurately, stored securely in the correct locations and subsequently picked accurately and timeously.

The Storeman will ensure that quality assurance processes are applied throughout. Whether physical quality, quantity or time related issues arise the Storeman is responsible to actively resolve any discrepancies. Ideal candidates will possess a keen eye for detail and a knack for organisation, ensuring that all administrative tasks are handled with the utmost efficiency. The role includes coordinating and improving the various tactical day to day receiving, stock location accuracy and allocations and picking duties as well as assistance and guidance to other internal teams.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving including QC
  • Inventory Control, levels
  • Location selection and storing
  • Picking for order fulfilment
  • Resolve queries regarding inventory shortages
  • Resolve incoming goods issues albeit physical quality, quantity, lateness, documentation, identification
  • Housekeeping in the stores, security of stock, identification, system maintenance in quantity and location.
  • Support Procurement and Purchasing with Materials & Consumable demand forecasting (MRP) and replenishment disciplines including kanban for critical high-volume items
  • Ensuring the optimum maintenance and accuracy of data in the ERP (receiving, stock levels, picking progress, reorder levels, dates, quantities, etc) as well as ongoing planning, forecasting, and analysis of inventory with the help of Excel tools.
  • Liaise daily with Operations, Sales & Project teams to align stores activities with business and Customer needs (quality, quantity, queries, reporting, etc)
  • Other operational and purchasing or administrative duties

 

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in similar roles will be advantageous, showcasing an ability to adapt and thrive in an engineering environment.
  • Sound understanding of inventory control, processes, integrity, good practice, storekeeping disciplines and governance
  • Read and extract materials from drawings, BOQ’s/BOM’s
  • Technical knowledge
  • Stock control (essential to ensure availability but lean inventory)
  • Demand planning through Sales Orders in high volume and transactional environment
  • ERP and WMS systems and MS office
  • Team player and leader
  • Responsibility for high volume SKU’s and related daily transactions

Nice to have:

  • Worked in Manufacturing or Engineering
  • Knowledge of the hardware/ironmongery industry

  • Sound knowledge of efficient supply chain and in particular inventory control processes and systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, Customer orientated attitude. Ability to work well under pressure. Attention to detail, excellent time management and organisation skills.
  • Team player – working as a Team and leading by example is crucial. Exposure to operations and planning functions will be an advantage as this role will liaise closely with Operations and Sales teams
